Set Your System Context
Now that you know how to use prompts, let's make every conversation smarter by default. Your Global Context is personal information that gets included in every chat automatically.
Why Global Context Matters
Without context, every AI conversation starts from zero. You explain who you are. You describe what you do. You mention your preferences. Again and again.
With Global Context, you tell the AI once:
- Who you are
- What you're working on
- How you like to communicate
- What matters to you
Then every conversation begins with that foundation already in place.
Setting Up Your Global Context
- Click your profile picture at the bottom of the sidebar
- Select App Settings
- Find the Global Context section
- Enter your context in the text area
- Changes save automatically when you click away
That's it. This context now flows into every chat you have.
What to Include
Think about what you'd tell a brilliant assistant on their first day. What do they need to know to help you effectively?
Consider including:
- Your role or profession
- Current goals or major projects
- How you prefer responses (concise vs. detailed, formal vs. casual)
- Technical background or expertise level
- Industries you work in
- Recurring context you'd otherwise repeat
Keep it focused. This isn't a biography — it's working context. Include what helps the AI assist you better.
Examples by Role
Small Business Owner
I run a 12-person landscaping company in Austin, Texas. I handle
everything from customer relations to hiring to finances.
I prefer direct, actionable advice. Skip the caveats — I'll ask
follow-up questions if I need them.
Current focus: scaling from residential to commercial contracts
while maintaining quality.
Recruiter
I'm a technical recruiter specializing in software engineering
roles. I work with both startups and enterprise companies.
I value efficiency — help me move quickly without sacrificing
quality. I often need to adapt my communication style for
different clients and candidates.
I'm based in the Pacific timezone.
Independent Consultant
I'm a management consultant working with mid-size companies
on operational efficiency. I typically have 3-4 active clients.
I prefer structured thinking: frameworks, bullet points, clear
recommendations. I'll often ask you to help me think through
problems before I present solutions to clients.
Background: 15 years in operations, former VP at a logistics company.
Agency Owner
I run a digital marketing agency with 8 team members. We focus
on B2B SaaS companies.
I'm often context-switching between client work, team management,
and business development. Help me think strategically, not just
tactically.
I prefer responses that I could share with clients after light editing.
Multi-Passionate Individual
I'm exploring multiple interests: a podcast about productivity,
a small e-commerce experiment, and learning data science.
I have limited time, so help me prioritize ruthlessly. I'd rather
make progress on one thing than spread too thin.
I'm a generalist who learns quickly — don't over-explain basics,
but do explain domain-specific concepts.
Tips for Effective Context
Be specific, not vague.
- Vague: "I work in business"
- Specific: "I run a boutique accounting firm serving restaurants"
Include preferences that matter.
- "I prefer bullet points over paragraphs"
- "Default to the simpler option unless complexity is justified"
- "I'm technical — you can use jargon"
Mention what you're working on now. Your context can evolve. Update it when your focus shifts.
Keep it under 500 words. The AI reads this every time. Make every word count.
What Happens Next
Once your Global Context is set, every new chat starts with the AI knowing:
- Who you are
- What you do
- How you like to work
You don't have to explain yourself. Just ask your question and get relevant, personalized responses from the start.
Quick Setup
Take 5 minutes right now:
- Open App Settings
- Write 3-5 sentences about who you are and what you're working on
- Add one line about your communication preferences
- Save and start a new chat
Notice the difference when you ask your first question.
Next Step
Global Context applies everywhere. But different projects need different context. Next, we'll create your first Project — a dedicated workspace with its own description, files, and settings.
