Understanding Message Limits
Premium Models
These are the most capable AI models—the latest from OpenAI (ChatGPT), Anthropic (Claude), Google (Gemini), and Grok. They're marked with a star in the model dropdown.
- Free: 5 messages per day
- Pro: Unlimited
The message counter appears in the chat interface when you're using premium models.
Basic Models
Fast, efficient models for everyday tasks. Great for quick questions and simple tasks.
- Free: 200 messages per day
- Pro: Unlimited
When Limits Reset
Limits reset at midnight UTC each day.
What Happens When You Hit a Limit?
Premium models: A message appears suggesting you:
- Switch to a basic model
- Upgrade to Pro
Basic models: An error appears. Wait for the reset.

The free plan lets you try everything PromptBlocks offers:
- 5 premium messages/day — Use the best models for important tasks
- 200 basic messages/day — Plenty for everyday tasks
- Full features — Prompts, compositions, projects, files
- No credit card required — Sign up and start using immediately

- Trying PromptBlocks
- Light, occasional use
- Users who primarily need basic models
The Pro Plan
Pro removes all limits and unlocks advanced features:
- Unlimited messages — Use any model as much as you want
- Thinking Mode — Extended reasoning for complex problems
- Cross-project chat context — Search past conversations across all your projects
- Priority support — Get help when you need it
$20/month — Cancel anytime.
This is perfect for:

Upgrading
- Click "Upgrade to Pro" (in the header, settings, or limit message)
- Complete checkout with Stripe
- Return to PromptBlocks with Pro status
- Limits are removed immediately
Managing Your Subscription
- Go to Account Settings
- Click "Manage Billing"
- In the Stripe portal, you can:
- Update payment method
- View invoices
- Cancel subscription
Cancellation
When you cancel:
- Access continues until the billing period ends
- You revert to Free tier after that
- All your data (prompts, compositions, chats) is preserved
- You can re-subscribe anytime
Bring Your Own Key (BYOK)
Want to bypass limits without subscribing? You can use your own OpenRouter API key.
How It Works

Why Use BYOK?

Setting Up BYOK
- Create an account at OpenRouter
- Add credits to your OpenRouter account
- Generate an API key
- In PromptBlocks: Go to Settings → App Settings → Advanced
- Paste your key and save
When using your API key, you'll see "Using your API key" in the chat interface.
Adding Custom Models
With BYOK, you can add any OpenRouter model:
- Go to App Settings → Advanced
- Find the "Custom Models" section
- Enter the model identifier from OpenRouter
- Custom models appear at the end of the model dropdown
Security
- Your API key is encrypted before storage
- Keys are never logged or transmitted in plain text
- Clear your key anytime from settings
